The Temple Village

This is the village where we set up our first hand knitting hub. It has a pond for washing clothes and a traditional temple. Most of the men here are tradespeople.

The village economy used to be based around goats and cows because of the pond, which made it a good place for feeding and rearing livestock.  Generations ago, the man who owned the cows built the first house.

There is also a temple, which is central to the town. When the children of the women who work for us get a fever they will be taken to the doctor and to the temple. At temple, the parents will collect neem leaves, a traditional remedy for all sorts of diseases. People at the temple will use the leaves to relieve the fever. According to the women who work with us this cures the children of their ailment.
